Daily Didactic

The day began early with a rash of uploading to the funkymoose sever, prior to having to checkout at 11:00am. The day was predominantly windy (turny) and scenic. Highway One up the California coast has two distinct scenic chunks. The first is from Morro Bay to Carmel, the second is from San Francisco up to Rockport. Today we drove the first chunk. Put this drive on your to do list the next time you find yourself in California in a reasonable sized vehicle. It is as scenic as drives get, often with cliffs heading straight down on one side and straight up on the other. When it does level out, it is typically with coastal farms and pasture land. The scenic coastal part itself is not all that long, around 130 miles. We stopped at a great little cafe in Big Sur part way up for a little lunch and then drove on up past Monterey to Half Moon Bay Campground for the night
