Day Seventy - Aug 17, 2000
Bellingham, WA to Prince George, BC
Daily Didactic
The day began in the comfortable home of Chris and Susan. These are very nice people and seem to be settling in for some sort of domestic bliss. Much like his brother the day before, we kept Chris and Susan up late chatting and did our best to sabotage their upcoming work day. Despite that, we had a nice morning visit, they headed to work and we headed to downtown Bellingham to get a connector to allow our aftermarket disc changer to work in our new ride. For not being a very large town, Bellingham had Brian all befuddled for a bit and it was a few hours later that we finally headed north. We crossed the Canadian border at Sumas and headed up the wildly scenic Frasier Valley Gorge highway. We stopped for a brief walk on the "old road" bridge and then headed on through Quesnel and finally came to rest at the Blue Spruce Campground in Prince George. Brian and Theresa spent a week here with Brian's folks right after they met, waiting for a new bus engine as they drove the alcan together for the first time. It's a sweet story for another time. Knowing we'd be car camping for a few nights in the Beetle, we secured a Kozy Kamping Kabin (Blue Spruce is a former KOA) for the night.
