Day Twelve - Jun 9, 2017
Zagreb, Croatia
Daily Didactic
Zagreb has been a nice little change of pace. A really pretty and very walkable town, without a long laundry list of touristic events to accomplish. We celebrated this distinction today with a late rise, a short walk over to the one museum Theresa was interested in (the Croatian Museum of Naive Art), and a longish walk to Maksimir Park. We had one must do on today's agenda and that was to print out our bust tickets to Sarajevo for tomorrow. It turns out the best way to get around Eastern Europe is bus. In the case of Sarajevo, in particular, there isn't even train service into Bosnia & Herzegovina because of some governmental dispute with it's neighbors. The most cost effective and predictable way to get these tickets is online, but this means that you have to print the tickets out. It's a little hard to explain, but waving a ticket on a cell phone at a bus driver here is not going to get you on board. Brian's hunch was that a hostel might be a good place to hit up for this. We spotted a hostel across the street and his hunch panned out. Our one duty accomplished, we walked the half hour to the massive city park, Maksimir Park. We took a lovely walk in the woods and and ended up watching turtles in a lake for a while. A beautiful day of respite, which positioned us for what will undoubtedly be a long day of travel tomorrow.
