Daily Didactic

Today started off slow and easy with a late breakfast and a chat with Lili about some low impact touristing for the day. Around noon we headed over to the neighborhood's own tourist attraction, Kew Gardens. It is the "Royal Gardens" and is a large and pleasant green oasis in London. We visited a gallery of ridiculously detailed botanical art, moseyed through a Japanese garden, and eventually ended up in the catwalk of the largest greenhouse either of us has ever been in. The indoor garden had a tree planted before the French Revolution (or the founding of the U.S. For that matter). Crazy. After the gardens, we joined Lili for an afternoon tea at wildly civilized Petersham nursery. It all felt quite British, in a good way. While Lili let the kids work out their energy, Theresa and Brian managed to only get mildly lost on a hike in the enormous Richmond Park. In spite of that, they found their way home unattended. We enjoyed another lovely evening with good company and comfortable digs, planning tomorrow's trip to Bath. Theresa is very excited.
