Daily Didactic

The day started early for Theresa, meeting Lili to queue early for a 9:00 Bath Spa entrance. As a male, Brian was not obligated or expected to spa. He instead packed bags and prepared for checkout, then finding Jerome for a Bath photo safari walkabout. Bath was an ancient Roman outpost, favored for having the only natural hot springs in Britain. What that makes Bath is pretty old, but most buildings are medieval and newer and were built up around the celebration of the Roman Baths' excavation in the mid 1700s. It is a quintessentially quaint and pretty English town, with abbeys, spires, bridges and cobblestone walkways. It is also known for some mid 1700's Georgian architecture. Jerome, Colette, Jack and Brian roamed the streets for a few hours until Theresa and Lili emerged from what was reported to be a highly satisfactory spa experience. From that point we had a bite to eat on a bridge over the Avon, toured the Roman Baths, walked to the Circus and the Royal Crescent, and visited the Bath Abbey. Quite a day. We caught the 5:30ish train back to London and, after an hour of delays and non-stop sad apologies from the crew, made it back to Kew Station happy (and a little exhausted) from a leisurely weekend.
