Daily Didactic

Today had a nice mix, a lot of walking through Mayan ruins, a little cafe time, and a lot of television relaxing in a hotel room. We began the day at 7:00am (on the advice of yesterday’s guide) to get into the park while animals were still out and about. It worked, the birds were loud, spider and howler monkeys active, and we saw agouti and coati. Pretty great. We explored what we had not seen yesterday at our own pace until hunger pangs got to us and the lodge’s restaurant was almost done serving breakfast. Fed and packed, we left our bungalow and the park at 11:00am, for the hour and a half drive back to Alamo Car Rental in Flores. After returning our ride and getting an unexpected complimentary lift back to Isle De Flores, we dropped off our bags and found a coffee shop until check in. We proceeded to spend the rest of the day bathing, napping, and catching up on YouTube. It was lovely getting a chance to relax before another minor travel day tomorrow to the Belize jungle.
