Daily Didactic

It was just a lovely day. We rose around 9:00ish and headed to breakfast at the Paradiso Cafe around the corner. The food was acceptable and filling for Brian, and in need of alternate choices and substitutions for Theresa. Ultimately it worked for both of us and we returned to our hideaway to find our travel companions. We instead found our sweet AirBNB hostess and listened and learned about our adopted island. Rejoined with Tim and Anne, we decided to take our Beach Cruisers on another adventure, this time to the north island, beyond the Caye Caulker “Split”. Ostensibly we were in search of beaches for the day (and we did find a couple), but the ride turned into much more of an exploration of trails and roads that might lead to beaches. We found a nice lunch spot for lounging at Bliss Beach, and a more austere and equally pleasant spot at Bounty Beach. After almost four hours of vigorous exploration, we all retuned to our ferry dock for the quick ride back across the Split. At this point Theresa recollected that it was time to go to Iguana Reef and pet stingrays. For real. A strange and undeniably touristic experience, it was also pretty fascinating as the stingrays circled and bumped into our legs looking for a handout. From there, we gathered food from groceries and returned to our bungalows for some dinner and more competitive Skyjo, which Brian (without question) dominated.
