Daily Didactic

Today brought us from the Belizean jungle to the Belizean coast, and together with three people who brought us joy. We began today as we have the last three days, with a marvelous breakfast at Carm’s. Having started a little later than we meant to, we moved on to an accelerated AirBNB checkout by 11:00am. Successfully getting out of our AirBNB host’s way, we followed checkout with a loop around the Cristo Rey backroads to get some movement in before we enjoyed our final two and a half hour private transfer to Belize City. It was at this point we met the first person who made our day better. Our driver to Belize City was a beautiful gentleman named Tyrone. Tyrone was an inspiring young father and husband who said all the sorts of things that make teacher hearts smile. We were lucky to have crossed paths. After Tyrone dropped us off at the modestly named Harbour View Boutique Hotel & Wellness Center, we killed some time until checkin, dropped our bags in our room, and then walked the slightly edgy street to downtown Belize City. We got some groceries, made our way home, and then snacked, swam and lounged poolside on our porch. Speaking of people who bring us joy, late afternoon brought a text we’d been anticipating. This was followed by the arrival of, and dinner with, our old friends and recent travel companions Tim and Anne. Today was a day that just kept giving.
