Daily Didactic

The day started at 12:30am, or 8:30am German time, and we were still at least 4:30 hours from Munich. We managed to find the long distance train station Fernbanhof and activate our Eurail passes. We caught a non-stop to Munich at 10:02 and learned a little bit about our lot in life on the Eurail. We initially thought we had found first class (as our "adult" passes allow us), but came to find we were in reserved seats in second class. When we got ousted by a very nice family, we went for a walk and found first class. Very nice. Tons of leg room, some tables, leather seats, far fewer folks. We nodded on and off through the German countryside before arriving in Munich. Our digs for the night, Pension Locarno, was a thankful five minute walk from Munich Main station and we were checked in and asleep by 2:30 in the afternoon. We rose around 8:00 and enjoyed a reasonable meal at Augustiner House, and were back to sleep by 10:00. We are still 10 hours off kilter from Anchorage, it's going to take a bit for this to work itself out...
