Daily Didactic

Another slow picture day. Theresa woke still feeling a little ill, so we slept in and decided to do "Prado Day 2" tomorrow. Our sole touristic event for the day became the Madrid Royal Palace, a pretty spectacular ode to opulence that is still the official residence of the Spanish royal family, but is only used for state ceremonies today. It was another "no cameras" affair, but be comfortable that the rooms were all spectacularly appointed and befitting a king and queen. We think it was our first look at a king and queen's throne room. Brian's favorite part was the armory, stuffed with medieval weaponry, suits of armor, and pre-firearm implements of war and defense. After a few early afternoon hours in a palace, we moseyed back through central Madrid to our neighborhood and found a wonderful and cheap little restaurant. We called it a short day so Theresa could rest up for a second helping of the Prado tomorrow, before catching a night train to Lisbon.
