Daily Didactic

Today began at the really pretty great Berlin Circus hotel. We rose at a reasonable hour and had the 5 euro all you can eat buffet (not like Vegas, a little dainty, healthier) downstairs in the cafe. A little overwhelmed with choices, we opted today for an all day guided walking tour of Berlin. It is from an outfit called Brewers Tours (not Brewery Tours, as Brian first thought), and they pride themselves in providing Berlin history along with walking you by all of the tourist spots. We met our guide Matt in the lobby of the Circus at 10:30 and tried to keep up with him for the next six and a half hours. The man has long legs and walks for a living. The tour was as advertised and while we stood between other walking tours in the hot spots, we stopped far more places for Berlin background and insight. It was a really great way to see the town and build a to do list for tomorrow. A little after 5:00 we ended our walk on "Museum Island" and Theresa and Brian headed back to Rosenthaler Platz. We decided to take the easy out and had a little more "authentic German food" at the same spot as yesterday. After we got home Theresa napped and Brian worked on the travelog for a while. Eventually we headed downstairs to the pub and chatted with some nice folks from Melbourne for an hour or so, before calling it a not too late evening.
